Feb DevLog: Fixing the Bones & '7S'
Hey guys!
Normally, as foretold, we would leave here the growing 30 pages of patch notes, but we're doing something different than the last post. If we continued with the same framework, we would be putting up everything that's changed and re-release the system, but we're not doing that. Not quite.
We felt we owed a DevLog in January, but we weren't confident in putting one out, given we were on the edge of the proverbial cliff, right before the jump. Instead, we're passing a close eye over every single page and format we did for Blade & Blunt, and we're building onto the philosophical skeleton with a better coat of paint. Everything has changed about the system that we're not even calling it the same game anymore, even if it is a maturation of the mechanics. Instead Blade & Blunt Core '24 will be released as a different, still free, product, code named '7S'.
We are still fulfilling the promises kept in the road map. 7S will release with two one shot modules, much more content, technical revisions across the entire system, and technical support on the level that the DM, still named Referee, is never lacking mechanical guidance on laying out gameplay or supporting themselves or their players.
We want to make DevLogs that discuss the upgrades to our B&B skeleton, such as updated dice mechanics, chaarcter funnels, home settlements, streamlined combat, new creatures, social subsystem, camp actions, retainers, seasons and time effects, real character sheets, tutorial and guideline graphics, etc. etc... But the thing is, its only development. Things change and frankly, we're not crowdfunded. That said, every donation goes into the art budget; we do not pocket anything that people decide to pay for. We restarted work in December, and are predicting a release date, with the unlocking Legacy Blade & Blunt, in late spring or early summer.
Our ideas and foundations are set in stone, and we will release 7S in full in the coming months, the same Blade & Blunt ideas, cleaner bones, better system content and polish, road map included.
